trücup is coffee with the acid taken out before it ever reaches your cup. We use a natural, proprietary process (only water and steam) to remove the harsh acids from premium arabica beans before roasting. The result has been independently lab-tested at 5.74 pH, about 60% less acid than conventional coffee. All the flavor, none of the burn.
Anyone who loves coffee but doesn't love what it does to their stomach. Many of our customers deal with acid reflux, GERD, or general stomach sensitivity. Many were told to quit coffee entirely. trücup lets them keep the ritual. It's also for people who simply enjoy a great cup of coffee.
We were founded in 2011 in the Pacific Northwest, where we work with artisan roasters to craft each of our blends. Our beans are 100% arabica, sourced from growing regions around the world.
Six blends: Light Roast, Medium Roast, Bold Roast, French Roast, Espresso Blend, and Half-Caff. Every one goes through the same water-and-steam process and carries the same low-acid benefit.
Medium Roast is our most versatile crowd-pleaser and a good first bag. If you like a brighter cup, go Light. If you want depth and intensity, Bold or French. Espresso Blend is built for espresso machines and strong brews.
Yes. Our single-serve cups come in Light, Medium, Bold, and French Roast, are compatible with all Keurig brewers, and carry the same independently tested 5.74 pH as our bagged coffee.
Yes, our Half-Caff blend. For many people with reflux, caffeine matters as much as acid: it relaxes the lower esophageal sphincter, the valve that keeps stomach acid where it belongs. Half-Caff plus low acid addresses both triggers at once.
The coffee is exactly the same, we just gave our roasts clearer names.
Beans, process, and 5.74 pH are all unchanged.
Through a natural process that uses only water and steam; no chemicals, no additives. The acid reduction happens before roasting.
The acids we remove are the ones responsible for bitterness and stomach burn, not the ones that carry flavor. What's left is a smooth, rich cup with all the aroma and body you expect from premium arabica coffee.
Independent lab testing measures trücup at 5.74 pH. Comparable major brands range from about 5.0 to 5.4 pH. That works out to 60% less acid than conventional coffee.
Yes. Our 5.74 pH figure comes from independent lab testing, not our own marketing department.
No. Caffeine content is independent of acidity, and our process doesn't change it.
No. Longer roasting does break down some acid, but a dark roast from a conventional brand still measures around 5.0 pH. Our acid reduction happens in processing, before roasting, which is why even our Light Roast tests at 5.74 pH.
Not a 100% decaf. Every trücup bean goes through our water-and-steam process, and the coffee won't hold up to a second processing to strip caffeine too. We recommend our Half-Caff blend instead.
Coffee naturally contains chlorogenic acids and other organic acids formed during growing and roasting. These are what give coffee its bright, sometimes sour edge, and what can trigger heartburn or reflux in sensitive drinkers.
Low-acid coffee has had a portion of its naturally occurring acids removed or reduced, usually through processing (like trücup's water-and-steam method) rather than just a darker roast. Regular coffee keeps its full acid content, which is what causes stomach discomfort for sensitive drinkers.
We think any brand claiming "low acid" should publish an independently tested number. Ours is 5.74 pH, tested by an outside lab, not our own marketing team. If a brand won't share a number, ask why.
Don't hesitate to reach out with any questions.
My one complaint: It's more of a medium roast than a light roast.
