low-acid coffee

A friendlier cup of coffee

trücup started in the Pacific Northwest in 2011, when a few serious coffee drinkers got tired of choosing between coffee and their stomach.

We didn't want to give up coffee, and we didn't think anyone else should have to either. So in 2011, we set out to build something that didn't exist yet: a coffee that kept everything people love about the ritual and left out what wrecked their stomach.

We start with 100% arabica beans, sourced from growing regions around the world. Before the beans are ever roasted, we run them through a natural process using only water and steam to remove the acids that cause the burn. Our artisan roasters then craft six distinct blends, each carrying the same acid reduction and all the flavor you'd expect from a great cup of coffee.

The result: real coffee, minus the part that was never the point.

Chart comparing pH acidity of trücup coffee against 5 other coffee brands, showing trücup has the highest pH and therefore the least acid.

What "low-acid" actually means: a 3-step process.

What "low-acid" actually means

Many low-acid claims stop at the label. Here's exactly what happens to ours before it ever gets roasted.

1
Water and steam. Nothing else.
It starts with raw green beans and an all-natural steam bath with no chemicals and no shortcuts.
2
The harsh acids rinse away.
Steam gently carries off the stomach-irritating acids before a single bean is roasted.
3
Then we expertly roast it.
What's left is bold, smooth, full-flavored coffee, with 60% less acid, tested at pH 5.7, easy on you.
